The Founder and Trustees usually provide initial funding, to the extent of their capabilities.  They also can receive donations and ask for contributions from others who believe in their mission and purposes.  Bequests and planned giving commitments can add significant funding.  Additionally, income can come from some who benefit from the services provided and are able to contribute partially or fully, according to their own determination and desire.

Once an Operating Foundation has a track record, finding sources with compatible missions and applying for grants is recommended and can become an excellent way to expand the operations and services provided.

We seek to empower Trustees to learn how to find individuals, corporations / LLCs and other entities including non-operating foundations who would be sympathetic to your mission and activities, how to contact them, and meet with them, and with them knowing they will donate to your Foundation.

An additional resource is now available, focused on connecting with people who have funds they must donate for humanitarian purposes.  Go to

Move Beyond Success to Greater Significance

With significant (not just sufficient) success for your Foundation’s programs in mind, EPAJS encourages vision as inspired by a simple yet powerful concept:  to build alliances and strategic partnerships between funders, grant writers, and family foundations seeking to, “DO WELL” by “DOING GOOD”.

Together these alliances can fundamentally change the way trustees of private foundations pursue their vision, their commitment and their goals in living their passion for making a difference.  A collaborative effort to access social capital, to match a funder with a funds seeker, and to collectively partner in the distribution of acquired dollars is an empowering opportunity.  We seek to support our foundations in experiencing consistent financial growth, coupled with stewardship living, so that families can affect needed change in the societal arenas they have selected for their focus.

EPAJS believes in strengthening families and communities everywhere.  Happiness is multiplied when prosperity is shared with others.  Life is meant to be a journey of choices that when properly made take on a richer, fuller meaning as we reach out to help others.

What’s Your Dream?

3.1 trillion dollars in social capital is awaiting distribution.  What’s been missing?  YOU and your ability to bring about change and improve the lives of others.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.

We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and famous?'  Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the power of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us.  And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
